Obituary of Leonor Bautista

Please share a memory of Leonor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leonor D. Bautista, 99, of Los Fresnos, TX, went to be with our Lord, on February 19, 2022 , at her residence surrounded by loving family. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Virginia, Vicky, and her grandchildren, Tiffany Heart and Tony Cline. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Pilar Bautista, her children, Isabel (Louisa) Alvarez, Emilia, Brown, Lydia (Gary) Mattlage, Gary Sumpter, Frank (Ida) Sumpter, Jolanda Powell and Alice Cline. Also surviving is her sister Manuela Montezuma, along with her grandchildren, Charlie Alvarez, Melissa Alvarez, Gary Sumpter Jr. Melissa Sumpter, Stacy Lephart, Kelly Sumpter, Frank Sumpter Jr., Casey Sumpter, Shelly Jordan, Tammy Heart, Jacop Pena, Jeremy Pena, Josh Jackson, Raven Jackson, Viviana Hopkins, great and great-great grandchildren, along with numerous other family members. First and foremost she loved her husband, and her family. She was a hard worker and always went by the book and was very strict. She loved gardening, she had green thumb and could grow anything. Nothing stopped her from doing what she wanted to do. She was very determined and was a great cook! She was an amazing hard working woman. She would always save her money to buy her kids Christmas presents. She worked in the fields and on her farm. She loved sewing more than anything, making quilts for the family members. Pilar and Leonor went to the same feed store for years, to purchase feed for her many animals. She had so many animals in her life time, from cows, horses, pigs, rabbits, goats, chickens, and of course dogs and cats! The man who helped them was always so grateful to see him , and he would help Leonor, and say she made his day. Well she told him she would make him a quilt, she went home and did. After a few weeks they went back for feed, and Leonor said, " Here is the quilt I promised you." The man was so surprised, he held it, hugged it and cried. She had food on the stove and offered whatever she had to anyone who came to visit. She was very patriotic and was very proud to be an American. She had a firm faith in God, and always believed everything happened for a reason. That it was God’s purpose. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February, 24, 2022, from 5 pm to 9 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 12 pm at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, with entombment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
