Ricardo Azua Sr., 69, of Los Fresnos passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 24, 1952 to the Hopie Native American Tribe in Brownsville Tx, to Jesus Azua and Maria Guerrero Azua. He went on to Marry the love of his live, Velma Cortez on January 24, 1969 soon after they welcomed a beautiful baby boy Ricardo Azua Jr.. Ricardo was a hard working family man where he spent countless hours working the fields until finally settling down in Olmito. He served 29 years as Long shoreman for the Port of Brownsville where he served as President of the local ILA # 1395, retiring in 1996. He spent the rest of his life with his beautiful wife Velma for 53 years. He lived happily in the company of his son Ricardo and daughter in law Rosalie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying many family get togethers, family trips, BBQ’s, birthday celebrations, holidays, camping trips and car shows. His love for his wife and children never faltered, but kept us all as one. He was deeply loved and will be missed everyday till we are together again. This is not goodbye but see you later. Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents; Jesus Azua and Maria Guerrero: grandparents; Pedro and Luz Guerrero: little brother; Antonio Azua and his pet companion and best friend Buster a.k.a. as Mr. Miller. Left to treasure his memories is his loving wife of 53 years Velma Cortez Azua: son Ricardo (Rosalie) Azua Jr.: grandchildren; Victoria N. Blaha, Denyse A. (Julian Medina) Azua, Ricardo (Alejandra) Azua III and Velma Rose Azua: great-grandchildren; Ricardo Jesus Azua, Ethan Rodriguez, Dominic Rodriguez and Alani Rhae Medina : brothers; Arturo Azua, Carlos Azua and Benito Azua as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Ricardo Azua Jr., Ricardo Azua III, Julian Medina, Gabriel Galvan, Jose Perales III and Ricardo Zua Zua honerery pallbearers will be Henry S. Gomez, Edward S. Gomez, Lupe Vallejo, Lupe Garcia, Jose Peralez Jr., Dr. Suraj Maraj and Dr. Matthews George. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m.. A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, with burial to follow to RoseLawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, Tx..
