Obituary of Daniel Reyna Garza

Daniel Reyna Garza, 82, passed away on December 30, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Pflugerville, TX surrounded by his family. Daniel was born on April 16, 1939 to Santiago and Angelita Garza in San Benito, TX. He attended school in Harlingen, TX and then went on and served in the Armed Forces (Army) from 1956-1958 while stationed in Germany. Once discharged from the Army he married Juanita Lizcano and they had four loving children. He was a dedicated Truck Driver for over 30 years working for HEB and Consolidated Freightways when he retired. He decided to keep busy and went back to work another few years as a Bus Driver for HISD. He had a love for animals, particularly dogs; Freckles and Rover. He also loved to play golf in his younger years and was a loyal and dedicated fan to the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and Houston Astros. In his honor you are welcome to wear Dallas Cowboys attire. Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Santiago Garza; mother, Angelita Garza and other family members. He is survived by his children, Yvette Engstrom (Carl), Daniel “Danny” Garza, Jr., Brenda Giles (Vincent) and Santiago “Jimmy” Garza (Jessica); sister, Delia Lopez, Dulia Chamberlain; brother, David Garza; grandchildren, Brianna Thomas (Kerry), Michaela Garza, Steven Garza, Lantz Engstrom; and great grandchild, Mariah Martinez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with Military Honors to be conducted at the graveside at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Garza, Jr., Santiago Garza, Vincent Giles, Carl Engstrom, Lantz Engstrom, and Kerry Thomas. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
