Benito Castillo Gallardo, 73, of Laguna Heights passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Benito was a shrimper for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching soccer and boxing. He was always sharing stories about life experiences. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. We hold you in our hearts until we see you again one day. He especially loved spending time with his 3 granddaughters: Julianne, Melissa, Laly, plus 3 great grandchildren that he raised: Benjamin, Naylea, and baby Benny, plus the family pet dog: Pepe. He is preceded in death by his wife: Oralia “Lala” Gallardo, parents: Gabino and Rodriga Castillo. Left to cherish his memories are his loving children: Fernardo (Dora) Garza, Frankie (Hilda) Gallardo, Sonia (Javier) Mejia, Leticia (Jose) Mortera, Benito (Melissa) Gallardo, Jr., Joanna Gallardo and Marco Gallardo, brother: Manuel Gallardo, sister: Maria Eulalia Gallardo Castillo, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday December 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday December 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX with interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Frankie Gallardo, Benito Gallardo, Jr., Matthew Garza, Javier Mejia, Andrew Gallardo, Frankie Flores Gallardo, Juan Navarro Gallardo, and Oscar Cruz.
