Angelica P. Martinez, 90, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Friday November 12, 2021. On Nov. 7, 1931, Angelica P. Martinez “Morena” was born to Rogerio Padron and Francisca Jasso. As her family’s economic needs changed they adjusted by moving to Corpus Christi, Brownsville, San Antonio, Port Isabel and New York. Her memories of those days were filled with family, unity, and the “can do” attitude. Her experiences prepared her commitment to her husband Isidro G. Martinez in 1959. She became a loving shrimper’s wife who exemplified stellar morals, values, love, faith, discipline and joy to her beloved family and fellow shrimper’s wives. As a lifetime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, she prepared her family in the Catholic doctrine and sang in the choir. She diligently rehearsed and worshipped the Lord. Her hobbies included praying, singing, cheering and supporting her San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and watching her favorite baseball teams. In addition, she enjoyed Bingo, visiting with friends by phone and helping those in need. Morena was employed at Port Isabel’s first Walmart with the Set Up Crew. Everywhere she went, she shared her bright smile, contagious cheer, giving heart and heartfelt compassion and always had a listening ear. These qualities served as a beacon to her family and friends. She was faithful to her beliefs and lived by the simple motto, “One day at time”. On Friday, November 13, 2021, Morena peacefully went to be with Lord, at South Texas Health System McAllen, Texas. Her family and friends will miss her deeply; but her words, love, prayers, values and examples will live on through her beloved family, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Isidro G. Martinez, mother: Francisca J. Garza, father: Rogerio Padron, stepfather: Jesus Garza, sister: Lydia Seaman, brother: Cristelo Padron, brother: Ruben Padron, beloved brother in laws: Gonzalo Holland, Arnold Romero, and George Seaman. Left to cherish her memory are her pride and joy: Norma Linda Cano (Ricardo Cano), Angelica M.
