Guadalupe “Lupe” Puga 76, of Brownsville, Texas passed away Monday September 20, 2021. Born May 2, 1945 in his native town Matamoros, Tamaulipas. He grew to become a loving husband when he married Raquel Velez in 1969. He was a wonderful father to Jose Guadalupe Puga, Raquel Jimenez, Patricia Puga, Veronica Puga, Jose Luis Puga, Laura Garza, and Jose Alberto Puga. He was a loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and great grandfather to 4 great grandchildren. He was a migrant that worked picking tobacco, vegetables, and many other field works. He enjoyed playing baseball in his early years with Liga La Fronteriza from Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Later in life as a grandfather he became a spectator of his grandchildren who played in a baseball team and a football team. Lupe enjoyed having his family for barbeques. He will be greatly be missed and always loved. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 5, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Las Rusias Cemetery. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
