Obituary of Eustacio Escalante

Please share a memory of Eustacio to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
My uncle, Eustacio Hernadez Escalante (Uncle Tacho), went to be with the Lord early Monday morning September 6, 2021. I was blessed to have known him. He lived a simple life and was a man of few words. He was always so kind to me; I remember many a Sunday afternoon visiting my grandparents that he would play the coin game with me...hiding it and finding it behind my ear. Ha! He was 90 years old, born in Los Fresnos, TX on March 29, 1931 to Modesto Escalante and Prisca Hernandez (some sweet people). He served in the military (US Army) after high school and studied at the University of Kingsville where he received his teaching degree. He taught in Los Fresnos and Harlingen CISD. About a year ago my uncle had some health issues and he couldn’t live alone anymore, so he shared a home (next door) with his sister in-law (Piedad) where her daughter Martina Gonzalez had been the care-giver for her mom for several years and the past year for my uncle too. “God bless you, cousin!” My mom had the honor/pleasure of spending the mornings this past year with my uncle, making him breakfast and visiting. The best part of this last year was that my mom was able to share her faith in Christ with her brother and he listened. Most importantly, he received our Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. That was a good day! I remember my mama calling me that day and in tears telling me how her brother made that decision. We know he is resting with the Lord. I thank my God that HE gave me such a close and good family. And that HE is known as Lord and Savior to many of my family members. He was the 4th of 6 siblings: Antonia Perez, Quintila Gonzalez, Javier (Harvey) and Fausto (died as a toddler). My mom was the 5th in line. He is survived by my aunt, Piedad (Harvey) Escalante and his sister, the beautiful wonderful lady I call mama, Mary Castillo. My uncle never married, however, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. My uncle will be cremated as per his wishes and the family will have a private ceremony. We appreciate your prayers for our family. Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
