Porfirio M. Cantu, 69, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021. He is preceded in death: Napoleon Cantu (Father); Angelita Martinez (Mother); Francisco Castellanos (Brother); Maria Trinidad Cuevas (Sister); Jose Cuevas (Brother-in-law); Margarita G. Gonzalez (Mother-in-law); Juan A. Gonzalez (Father-in-law) He is survived by his loving wife, Irma G. Cantu, of almost 53 years of marriage, sons: Porfirio Cantu, Jr.; Jose Lauro Cantu (Theresa Ann Cantu (Wife); daughters: Melisa Cantu Del Rio (Jose Del Rio (Husband); Irma Ester Cantu; daughter-in-law: Adina Garcia. 3 Sisters: Pura Mireles; Olga Sandoval; Isabel Herrera, grandchildren: Porfirio Polo Cantu; Zachary Antonio Cantu; Emilie Christine Cantu; and Juliana Madeline Del Rio. Polo was a quiet, humble, hard-working and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had boundless love for his four children and four grandchildren, who were the most important part of his life. For over 30 years he was a shrimper and transitioned his career to a Security Guard on South Padre Island. His hobbies included relaxing in the evenings watching television, enjoying the Dallas Cowboy football games, and working with the newest technology and gadgets. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and loyalty to his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Public visitation to be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with cremation to follow according to his wishes.
