Obituary of Eloisa Zuniga Haney

Please share a memory of Eloisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eloisa Zuniga Haney, 85, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on August 3, 2021. “With a heavy and sad heart I let you go.” Before my sister Eloy retired, her jobs included working in the beet fields of Michigan, the cotton gins in Harlingen and Mississippi, and packing sheds in the RGV. She took much pride in all her jobs, but I believe she was the happiest working in several nursing homes taking care of the elderly. In 1984, she married the love of her life, William Haney. She moved to Kalalmazoo, Michigan and continued her job in a nursing home, lovingly and proudly taking care of her patients. In 2010, a year after Bill died, she moved to Rio Hondo. She enjoyed knitting and watching her favorite game shows. I thank God that until her death, she led a happy life. She always looked forward to her almost daily visits from her beloved nieces, Zulema Zuniga and Gloria Atkinson. Although she never had children, two wonerdful boys called her grandma Haney. Thank you Richard (RJ) and Calvin Atkinson for bringing so much joy to “Grandma Haney.” I will miss you forever my dear sister. Your sister, Yolanda. She is preceded in death by her parents: Hermenejildo and Perfecta Zuniga, sisters: Isabel Rincones, Cruz Garza Saldivar, Maria Zuniga, Celia O’dell, and Guadalupe Orta, brothers: Reynaldo, Dionicio, Jose, Sylvestre, Manuel and Hermenejildo Jr. She is survived by her youngest sister Yolanda Z. Lopez. Visitation will be held Friday August 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
