Paulita Jasso Castillo, 79, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Paulita was born in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, she had been a resident of Port Isabel for the past 69 years. Her greatest love was her family; she always provided support. Throughout her life she was an example, educator and mentor teaching those around her how to love. Diagnosed with lung cancer over 4 years ago-she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was determined. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance looks like. There was no quitting in Paulita. Mrs. Castillo was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Tovar; her father, Felix Jasso; and a sister, Juanita Castillo. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Concepcion “Chon” Castillo; children, Jose C. (Jessica) Castillo, Tina (Juan) Rodriguez and Paula Castillo; siblings, Sixta Moreno, Baldomero Jasso, Apolonio Jasso, Maru de Vasquez; grandchildren, Anastasia J. Castillo, Gabriella J. Castillo and J. T. Rodriguez; nieces, Sofia (Rene) Vasquez, Janie (James) Workman, Soledad (Mario) Villarreal and Isidra (Eugenio) Herrera; nephew, Juan Castillo; great-nieces, Celina (Frank) Czerniakowski, Alyssa (Brad) Williams, and Sofia Williams; great-nephews, Greg Castillo, John Castillo, Andres Castillo, Antonio Castillo, Frank Czerniakowsi, Peyton Williams and Liam Castillo. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, San Benito, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas 78578, burial will follow at the Port Isabel City Cemetery, Port Isabel, Texas. Honored to be serving as Mrs. Castillo’s pallbearers are Mario Villarreal, Jr., Eugenio Herrera, Gorgonio Nieto, Rene Vasquez, Juan Rodriguez, James Workman, Cande Herrera and Miguel Urie. Honorary pallbearer is Mario Villarreal, Sr. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 virus, all individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
