Israel Gonzalez, 88, a lifelong resident of San Benito, passed away on April 6, 2021 at La Retama Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. He is survived by his loving family; lifelong friend and partner; Clara Chavez Gonzales, one son; Joe Gonzales (Yolanda), one grandson; Jason Gonzales, three granddaughters; Patricia Cazares, Cassandra Sanchez, and Lori Ann Garza, Brothers; Alfredo Gonzales (Marci) of Cedar Park, Texas, Johnny Gonzales (Paulita) Chicago, Illinois, Great grandchildren; Joseph, Joaquin and Loren Cazares, and many nieces and nephews. Israel is preceded in death by his parents and Maria Gonzales, Brothers; Leonel Gonzalez, Wero Gonzales, and a daughter Sylvia Garza. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021, from 5 pm to 9 pm, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, with a Holy Rosary to be recited by Bea Lopez at 7 pm. A Chapel Service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 by Deacon Catarino Villanueva at 10 am at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home, 395 S. Sam Houston, San Benito Texas 78583. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery in San Benito, Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jason Gonzales, Israel Gonzales, Frankie Gonzales, Juan Gonzales, Alfredo, Jr., and Anthony Gonzales.
