Obituary of Dustin Lee Sellers

Please share a memory of Dustin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dustin Sellers, 34, passed away peacefully, April 6, 2021, at his home in San Benito. Dustin always had a fun-loving, adventurous spirit and a never-ending curiosity. One of his happiest memories as a child was his Taekwondo achievement; he was ranked as the #2 Taekwondo Champion in Texas when he was only 12 years old. During his freshman year at Los Fresnos High School, he was academically ranked in the “Top 10.” He also attended the Marine Military Academy for two years where he established life-long friendships. He had a naturally brilliant mind and had successfully completed 90 hours toward a biology degree. Dustin joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005. While in bootcamp, he earned the award “Iron Man” of his company. Dustin went on to receive a meritorious promotion in “Radio School.” He was a proud Marine and served two tours in Iraq as the Company Radio Operator. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal after serving for four years. Dustin was always ready for an adventure and a good belly-laugh. He had a heart of gold and was always loyal to his friends. His sharp wit, dry sense of humor, warm heart, and generous spirit will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Sheldon Sellers; his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Nieves Sheldon; his paternal grandparents, Ullysis and Vernice Sellers; Walter Frederick (Slim) Luthy; and his beloved greyhound Dexter. He is survived by his father and mother, Grayson and Cynthia Sellers of Los Fresnos; grandparents, America and Juan Rangel of Harlingen; brothers, Noah Sellers (Katie) and Ben Pena (Lila); sister, Rebecca Hentzell (Matt), nieces and nephews, Gage Hentzell, Hatcher & Sailor Sellers, Benjamin & Zoe Pena.
