Juanita Alonso, 71 of Matamoros,Tamaulipas was called away to Heaven on January 25, 2021, with her family by her side. She was preceded by her parents Jose Felipe Ortega, Rita Garcia Ortega, and her sister Albina Lugo. She was married to her husband, Samuel A. Alonso in 1972, and they lived together in San Benito, Texas for 48 years. Juanita Alonso was mother to her two children Jessica Alonso and Samuel D. Alonso. She is survived by her husband. Samuel A. Alonso; daughter, Jessica Jazmin Alonso, son, Samuel D. Alonso; grandchildren, Samuel D. Alonso Jr., Javen J. Alonso, Rita S. Alonso, Lilly E. Alonso, Madyson Perez and Josiah Perez. She is also surpassed by her 10 brothers and sisters, from oldest to youngest are: Raguel Ortega, Josepha Brunell, Gonzalo Ortega, Maria De Jesus Lara, Jose Martin Ortega, Ofelia Cantu, Francisca Ramirez, Maria Luisa Banda, Elizabeth Sanchez, Marco Antonio Ortega, and Rigoberto Lugo. She had two Godchildren Joanna Figueroa and Arlene Gonzalez. She also had over 60 nieces and nephews on both sides of the family that loved her tremendously. She held women's services in her home with close family friends and family: Juanita Hidalgo, Lilia Gonzalez, Maria Ortega, Ofelia Camacho, Henia Chavez, and Ofelia Cantu. Juanita Alonso was the matriarch of our family. She loved her husband with an Agape love. A love so beautiful and pure, we can only wish to experience that love. She held her children close and always strived to have family united. She was a mom to all, loving without hesitation and limit. She would donate to the less fortunate food, clothes, prayer time and time again. She led by example reading her bible three times a day, singing her songs, and guiding everyone who came across her toward God. She was a hard worker, wonderful wife, loving sister, mother, and exceptional grandmother, and a best friend to many. She is remembered for her sweet, gentle loving personality. She would always invite you for a cup of coffee and a meal. She was so proud of her children and their accomplishments. She held a special spot for her grandchildren, always attentive to their wants and needs without question. She was forever cutting nopales and would give them to whoever went to her home. She leaves beautiful memories in our hearts. Always resolving every problem or issue with prayer and faith. I urge you to remember her examples. I know she has left a void in our hearts but pray for understanding and strength to carry on with her beautiful memory.
