As a young child he moved with his family to Harlingen and to San Benito in the early 1950’s. George graduated from San Benito High School in 1961 and joined the Navy. While stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in New London, Connecticut he met and married the love of his life, Gloria. Last year they celebrated their 56th anniversary. In 1967 George finished his time in the Navy. He and Gloria moved home to San Benito where they had two children, Carol and George, who he loved with all his heart. In the 1970’s George was a lineman for CP&L. Later he worked for MUZAK installing speaker systems. He enjoyed and was very talented at working with phone lines and wiring. Before his eyesight got too bad George loved to read western novels, especially Louis L’amour. He enjoyed watching TV, spending time with family, going to the flea market, and playing Bingo. George was a man of few words but when he did talk he usually had something funny to say. He passed peacefully after a long battle with illness. He is no longer suffering but is safe and sound in the arms of his Saviour Jesus. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
