Margarito, “Mage,” Huerta, 75, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born to the late Jesus and Dolores Huerta, on July 20, 1945, in San Benito, Texas. On December 8, 1975, Margarito married Gloria Alisa Huerta. He was blessed with a loving daughter, Venesa Erica and helped raise San Juanita whom he considered a daughter. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He graduated from San Benito High School in 1964. Margarito proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1967. He also served with the United States National Guard 1967-1977. He retired from the Cameron County Maintenance Department in 2002. Margarito was a kind and soft-spoken man, and always had time to answer any questions, to listen, to help solve a problem, or to offer advice. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed reading as many books as he could on a daily basis. In his spare time, he loved to work on his “project” truck. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Gloria Alisa; his daughters Venesa (Jesus Montemayor) and San Juanita (Eugenio) Ortiz; his grandchildren Josiah, Jesus, Jocelyn, and Amanda Montemayor and Jacob, Justin, and Jovannah Ortiz; his brothers, Ricardo (Sara) Huerta, Mike (Sylvia) Huerta, Baldemar, Jesus Jr., Alvaro, and Manuel Huerta; his sisters, Oralia (Ricardo) Rodriguez, Ester (Curtis) Kemmerling, Isabel (Jaime) Rodriguez, Dolores, Corina, and Angelica Huerta; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Dolores Huerta; his brother, Arnulfo Huerta; and his sister, Maria De Los Angeles Huerta. Pall bearers will be Jesus Montemayor, Jacob Ortiz, Justin Ortiz, Alvaro Huerta, Baldemar Huerta, Manuel Huerta. Honorary pall bearers include Josiah, Jocelyn, Jesus, and Amanda Montemayor, Eugenio and Jovannah Ortiz. The Huerta family will receive friends and relatives on Monday,January 25, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM on Monday evening. On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 there will be a chapel service at 12:00 PM at Thomae-Garza followed by the graveside ceremony with full military honors at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
