Jesus M. Mendiola, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on December 5, 1935, to his parents, Hipolito Mendiola and Guadalupe Messa Mendiola. He married his wife, Dora Leal Mendiola on December 5, 1963. He is survived by daughters, Anita Cantu, Rosita Cantu, Cruz Ruiz, and Alicia (Luis) Villarreal ; son, Jesus (Frances) Mendiola Jr. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty- six years, Dora L. Mendiola; brothers, Guadalupe Esquivel and Zacharias Mendiola, and great-granddaughter, Victoria Mendiola. Jesus enjoyed spending time outdoors, going to garage sales, selling at the flea market in Mercedes and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Thomae Garza Funeral Home 395 Sam Houston Blvd. San Benito, Texas 78586. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10:00 A.M., at Thomae- Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart.
