Obituary of Oscar Gerardo Torres

Please share a memory of Oscar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Oscar Gerardo Torres entered into eternal rest on October 8, 2020 at his home in Port Isabel, Texas surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer. Oscar was born on October 31, 1967 in Brownsville, Texas to Benjamin Torres and Catalina Claudio. He met his wife in Port Isabel, Texas, where they fell in love and had four children. Oscar was a dedicated employee of HEB for 17 years and of Sea Ranch Restaurant for over 10 years. A true Texan, Oscar followed a “grab life by the horns” mentality and lived his 52 years to the fullest, bringing his family together for celebrations and arranging road trips to Dallas Cowboys games. He and his wife were devoted to each other and shared a strong, enduring love. He cared deeply for his wife and children and was the best grandpa to his grandchildren. He loved family gatherings, decorating his house for holidays, hosting BBQ parties, and was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. A fighter, a warrior, Oscar fought until his very last moment. He will always be remembered by those who loved him as a strong, proud, hard-working man who loved life and whose love for football only came second to his love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents: Benjamin Torres and Catalina Claudio; and two nieces: Cassandra Sierra and Jacqueline Gallegos. Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Esmeralda Torres; two daughters: Johanna (Joseph Alcocer) Torres and Emily Clarisa (Laurence Gonzalez) Torres; two sons: Oscar Gerardo (Coty Camacho) Torres Jr. and Jose Pedro Torres; the jewel of his eye, granddaughter Miley Lyann Hernandez; a future Cowboys fan, grandson Alec Emilio Gonzalez; his siblings whom Oscar loved and cared for with all his might: Juan Carlos Torres, Benjamin Torres, Javier Torres, Sandra Claudio, Luis Claudio, and Daniel Claudio; and his two four-legged fur babies, Max and Chloe.
