Obituary of Fred Balli

Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fred Balli, age 89, passed away on August 29, 2020 after suffering the after-effects of Covid-19. He is survived by his daughter, America Balli and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Fred’s humble beginnings started in Harlingen where he was born to Amado and Delfina Balli. He was one of five brothers who served in the military. Each brother represented on of the four military branches …. Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force. The discipline and patriotism that the Balli brothers learned in the military never left them and they all have left behind a beautiful legacy of service to their country. Fred was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving with the “Sunshine Boys” …an outfit with many Californians. After serving his country during war time, he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954. When Fred returned from the Service, he lived in San Francisco then eventually returned to Harlingen and started his quest to attain a college degree. He was always very proud of his educational accomplishments and encouraged others to seek their own knowledge. He loved being around friends and family. He always looked forward to a family gathering and loved to visit with everyone. His true joy was in giving to others and he never cared about himself as much as he cared about his loved ones. He will always be remembered by his positive disposition and his favorite saying “my cup runneth over.” Although our hearts are heavy, we celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us now. Services will be held at a later date and cremated remains will be interred at the RGV State Veteran’s Cemetery in Mission, TX.
