Guadalupe Betancourt, 70 of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. He was born July 13, 1950 in Port Isabel, Texas. Guadalupe was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Vietnam War with the 1st Calvary Division as a Master First Staff Sergeant. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Betancourt. Guadalupe is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Blanca S. Betancourt; daughter, Guadalupe Betancourt Cuellar (Miguel); granddaughters, Blanca Lea Tabares and Samantha Leemarie Ibarra; mother, Casilda Martinez Betancourt; brothers, Daniel Betancourt Jr., Cristobal Betancourt, and Reynaldo (Rosa) Betancourt; and sister, Amelia Villarreal (Jose Antonio). A visitation will begin Monday, August 24, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Talk at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A chapel service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and burial will follow at Port Isabel Cemetery in Port Isabel, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. All individuals must wear face coverings or masks. (may include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings). Honored to serve as pallbearers are Reynaldo Betancourt Jr., Daniel Betancourt Jr., Cristobal Betancourt, Jose Antonio Villarreal, Rolando Alaniz, and Miguel Cuellar.
