Andres “Andy” Alvarez, Jr., 77, of Los Fresnos, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Bayview, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Micaela Silva Alvarez; and seven siblings: Maria “Mary” Elena Atkinson, Benito Alvarez, Guadalupe Cortez, Enrique Alvarez, Josefina Trevino, Fabian Alvarez, and Herminia Ramirez. Andres is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Maria Luisa Alvarez; three daughters: Loraine Alvarez (Luis) Escobedo, Geneva Alvarez, and Andrea Marie (Dionicio) Garza; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three stepdaughters: Melinda (Juan) Garza, Nora (Niel) Garcia Stone, and Elisa (Felipe) Garza; and seven step-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings: Librada McLeester, Magdalena “Lina” Kitchens, and Johnny Alvarez, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos, Texas Interment will follow at Los Cuates Cemetery.
