Michael Ray Duer, age 68, passed away in Harlingen, Texas on June 13, 2020. He is survived by his loving wife, Nelda, of Harlingen, TX; his sister, Ann Berger (James) of Durham, NC; his step daughters, Lisa Flores (Josh Galbreath) of Burlington, IA and Veronica Kilpatrick (Jessie) of Fayetteville, NC; his step son, Jesus Flores (Teresa) of El Paso, TX ; his nieces, Jill Berger (Sascha Hallstein) of Saratoga, CA and Julie Gish (Ryan) of Lake Forest, IL. Michael is also survived by many Great Nephews and Nieces and many Grandchildren who loved him very much. Michael Ray Duer was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 27, 1951 to Claire and Bonnie Duer. He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael will be laid to rest next to his parents, grandparents and great grandparents in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion, IA where the Duer family lived for many generations. As a child, Michael spent many happy summers in Clarion with his grandparents. Mike was raised in Minneapolis. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy in Boonville, MO. After high school, Mike worked mainly in manufacturing in Minneapolis, MN; Cincinnati, OH and Grand Prairie, TX. His specialty was extrusion lamination and blown film for flexible packaging. He worked in the field for over 35 years. All who knew Mike would say “What a great guy” he was. He was very good at expressing his love and appreciation of others. He liked to take time with others and get to know them and have long conversations. Many of those interactions bonding over the love of sports. He worried that cell phones and the internet compromised those face to face interactions. The family, from the youngest to the oldest, will tell you that Mike told many jokes; slowly and repeatedly. We all loved him deeply and will miss him very much. He gave us his love and we made him happy by giving him our love. Now it is time for him to travel on alone. We bless the memories that lie within our hearts. You may sign the online guestbook and send words of comfort, flowers, or sympathy cards to family of Michael Ray Duer at: www.thomaegarza.com.
