Maria Olga Alvalos, 73 of San Benito, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 28, 2020, surrounded by her three loving sons after a difficult battle with cancer. Olga was born in San Benito. Texas. She retired from Walmart where she was employed for about 31 years and was known as “Grandma”. Olga enjoyed spending her time with her boys and grandchildren; playing cards, bingo, loteria, going to the movies, and bowling are just a few activities she enjoyed with her family and friends. Olga had a heart of gold and would bend over backwards for anyone. You will truly be missed Olga, AKA “Grandma”. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, Malerie Puga, Belinda Puga, Trey Puga, Peter Puga, Crystal Gomez, Marissa Puga, Nickie Puga, Rebecca Puga, Abraham Puga, Martin Puga, and Sergio Farias. She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Consuelo Caballero; brother, Antonio Caballero Jr.; sisters, Irma Gomez, Noemi Rodriguez, Rosa Caballero; grandchildren, Belinda Annette Puga, Peter Puga, Fernando Puga Sr., and Guadalupe Avalos. Maria is survived by her three sons, Fernando Puga Jr., Jesse Puga (Belinda), and Javier Puga; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Aaron Caballero. A visitation will begin Wednesday, June 3, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and burial will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas. Due to current restrictions, this establishment will follow the 25% occupancy limit of 50 persons or less and all persons shall institute social distancing of a minimum space of 6 feet apart. All individuals must wear face coverings or masks. (may include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
