Obituary of Michel L. Kagan

Please share a memory of Michel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
South Padre Island, TX - Michel Louis Kagan was born on April 4, 1921 and left this world in the early morning hours of February 29, 2020. He came to this country fleeing Poland when he was 4 years old and made his home here - spending his last 57 years in the great state of Texas. He was hard working and disciplined his entire life. This was apparent even as a youth when he graduated 2 years early from high school. After high school he joined the CCC's and began his working life before feeling called to join the Army during WWII. His work ethic never faded, not even in retirement, as is evidenced by the prolific running career he had when he took up the discipline at the age of 62. During his running career he earned 40 Senior Olympic Gold medals, 10 Masters gold medals, and a plethora of medals from various races he participated in. He is survived by his two sons and one daughter. He will be remembered fondly by his brother, Meishe Kagan; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and eight nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209 You may sign the online guestbook and send words of comfort or sympathy cards to family of Michel Louis Kagan at: www.thomaegarza.com.
