Obituary of Alejandrina Vasquez Valdez

Please share a memory of Alejandrina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alejandrina Vasquez Valdez, 75 of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020. “This is the Day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” As our life’s journey ends, God calls us home. Alejandrina V. Valdez has been called and she has answered. Aleja, as many knew her, was a gentle soul. Pan dulce and coffee were her favorites and the invitation for others to join her was always open and she was always ready to have something on the table no matter who visited. She worked for many years as a housekeeper on South Padre Island at the old “El Padre Hotel” in the sixties and seventies. Her laugh was contagious and there was always an uplifting spirit about her. She made herself available to help anyone who needed it and did so unselfishly. Entering into eternal rest on Sunday February 02, 2020 has left our hearts broken and extremely sad, but we know in our hearts that God has welcomed her to the eternal life in Heaven. Alejandrina (Aleja) is preceded in death by both of her parents, Angela V. Valdez, and Antonio Gonzalez, her husband, Cruz V. Valdez Sr., brothers, Antonio Valdez and Armando Valdez, one sister, Lina Valdez Underwood, and one sister-in-law, Hortencia Valdez. She is survived by several members of her family, who love her dearly. Brothers and sisters; Elva Valdez Lee, Cruz and Catherine Valdez, Guadalupe Valdez, and Angela and Wayne Sandifer. Her daughters, Juanita Lotito, Lorena Hodge, and Irma Valdez, and one son, Cruz Valdez Zamora. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Victor and Meagan Lotito, Samantha Lotito, Nianca Hodge, Leslie Hodge, and Alexia Zamora, and three great-grandchildren, Gabriela Euridice Echevarria, Marissa Llanos, and Francisco Javier Llanos, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 Longoria Street in Port Isabel, Texas.
