Obituary of Andrea V. Carrizales

Andrea V. Carrizales, age 102, of San Benito passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 29, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on December 20, 1916 in Lyford, Texas to Ignacio Vega and Maria Cano. She married Guadalupe Carrizales, Jr. and together they had eight children and also raised her grandson Reynaldo Carrizales, Jr.

Andrea (aka Ama Andrea) was blessed with such a long, healthy and happy life. She was the rock, foundation and pillar of her family. She was a hard-working, dedicated mother first and foremost, but also a devoted and loving grandmother.  She treasured her grandchildren and embraced her moments with them. She doted on her great-grandchildren and poured out her love on them.  Her love and adoration did not stop there, for she continued to extend her love on to her great great-grandchildren as well. 

Andrea loved to attend Greyhound football games and rarely missed one, especially when one of her grandkids or great grandkids was on the field.    

Left to cherish her memory are her children Marcelino (+Daisy) Carrizales, Aurora Villanueva, Candelaria Galvan, Dora Carrizales, Guadalupe (Liz) Carrizales, III,  Angie (Carlos Aguilar) Barrera and her grandson Reynaldo (Candy) Carrizales, Jr., 27 additional grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 19 great great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Andrea was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Guadalupe Carrizales, Jr.; her children Elva C. (Armando) Perales and Reynaldo (Rebecca) Carrizales, Sr.; grandchildren Michael Adrian Villanueva and Angelina Carrizales; her great-granddaughter-in-law Christina M. Carrizales; and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, December 3, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. 

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are:  Andrea Avila, Amanda Parra, David Parra, Javier Carrizales, Aaron Carrizales, Michael Christopher Carrizales, CJ Carrizales, Johnny Avila;  and honorary pall bearers: Lionel Carrizales, Amelia Rae Carrizales, and Reynaldo Carrizales, III .
