Obituary of Oscar Cantu

Oscar Cantu, 45 of San Benito/Brownsville, TX, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Oscar worked in trucking for 25 years and was known on the CB Radio as "Snoopy". He attended San Benito High School. Oscar was always full of joy, even in the hardest moments. He loved family gatherings, cookouts, fishing, music, which always made him the family DJ. He had a loving spirit and was the center of laughs and fun with family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Remigio D. Cantu.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carmen P. Garcia; mother, Candida G. Cantu; daughter, Alexandra Cantu; son, Oscar Cantu Jr.; stepdaughters, Elvira Garcia, Edna (Jose) Garcia, and Erica (Walter) Garcia, 8 grandchildren, Eric Joseph, Christopher, Christian, Hiliana, Walter Jr., Jocelynn (his Lulu), Santiago, and Sebastian; brother, Remigio (Linda) Cantu Jr.; sisters, Diana C. (Amado) Chavez, Linda Palacios, Patricia Navarro, Virginia (Alcario) Martinez, Corina Castillo, Tomasa (Joe Frank) Cavazos, Yolanda (Roger) Cantu, and Candid (Antonio) Montes; brother-in-law, Ralph (Irma) Pedraza; sister-in-law, Maria (Cande) Garza; and 28 nephews and nieces.

Visitation will begin Monday, September 16, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Cremation will be held in accordance to his wishes.
