Obituary of Maria De La Luz Ortega

Maria De la Luz Ortega, 55, of Lozano, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019. She was a lifetime resident of Rio Hondo, Texas

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Del Rosario Compean; and her brother, Jose Alberto Compean.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Luis M. Ortega Sr.; two children, Luis M. (Marcy) Ortega Jr. and Leslie (Richard) Rodriguez; three grandchildren, Rylee Rodriguez, Cecilia Marie Ortega, and Arabella Rose Ortega; seven siblings, Ernesto (Lupita) Compean, Tano (Jovita) Compean, Martin Compean, Francisco Compean, Lupita Compean, Rosario Compean, and Marta (Edgar) Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin Sunday, August 11, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will continue Monday, August 12, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas with burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are her immediate family members.
