Obituary of Ovidio Guevara Sr.

Ovidio Guevara Sr., 78, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Brownsville, Texas.

He was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the Quarterback Club, and Knights of Columbus. Ovidio was a butcher for B & B meat market in Port Isabel, and a shrimper in the shrimping industry.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Irma Llanas Guevara; parents, Ignacio and Olivia E. Guevara; and sisters, Anita Holcomb and Oralia Guevara.

Ovidio is survived by his loving children, Lilia Guevara, Olivia Garcia, Ovidio Guevara Jr, Irma Yadira Guevara, Pierre Guevara Judith Morales Llanas and Hector E. Llanas; 18 grandchildren as well as three brothers; Ignacio Guevara, Jose Guevara and Leopoldo Guevara and two sisters Magdalena Garza and Rosa Rivera.

Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

Honorary pallbearers are Ovidio Guevara Jr., Pierre Guevara, Emmanuel Garcia, Isaiah Gonzales, Edgar Garcia and Benito Ochoa III.
