Obituary of Ricardo Montez Sr.

Ricardo Montez Sr., 33, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Rick was an amazing man in every aspect of the word. He was a great husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, barbequing, and being surrounded by his family. Rick was the life of any party and will forever be loved and missed by anyone who had the honor of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his stepmother, Ana Maria Montez; and father-in-law, Francisco Prieto.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Juanita “Connie” Prieto; sons, Ricardo Montez Jr., Justen Montez, Matthew Montez, and Randy Montez; daughter, Ricki Jaelynn Montez; stepsons, JohnRay Guajardo, Juan Lopez III, and Jonathan Lopez; father, Fidel (Sylvia) Montez; mother, Bertha Montez; stepfather, Oscar Solis; siblings, Fidel (Yenni) Montez Jr., Jose Luis (Aida) Montez, Ernesto (Adriana) Montez, Juan Jacinto (Rachel) Montez, Gerardo Montez, Jessie Cervantez, Jessica Montez, Jennifer Cervantez, and Michaela Cervantez; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and will continue Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Benito Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Fidel Montez Jr., Jose Luis Montez, Ernesto Montez, Juan Jacinto Montez, Luis Enrique Prieto, Martin Prieto, David Torres Jr., and Juan Lopez III.
