Obituary of Jose Luis Alvarez Jr.

Jose Luis "Joey" Alvarez Jr., 29, of Laguna Vista, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas.

Joey was loved by many and will be missed dearly. His beautiful spirit will never be forgotten. He brought a smile to everyone’s face. His memory will live on for eternity.

Joey was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and a brother for the A.C.T.S. Retreat.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Juan Gonzalez Sr. and Ester Holland Garza; and paternal grandmother, Margarita M. Sanchez.

Joey is survived by his loving parents, Jose Luis Alvarez Sr. and Patricia Ann Alvarez; sister, Elisa Ann Alvarez; brothers, Gabriel (Joanna) Alvarez and Adrian Angel Alvarez; 2 nephews; 2 nieces; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Frankie Perez Jr., Frankie Garza, Jose Lopez, Sergio Lopez, Alex Infante, Erick Cantu, Jay Dee Cantu, and James Traya Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are: Gabriel Alvarez, Adrian Angel Alvarez, Elias Camacho, Bryan Torres, David Garza III, Rene Gonzalez Jr., Angel Torres, and Ernie Turrubiates.
