Obituary of Estevan G. Escamilla

Estevan G. Escamilla, 81, of Rio Hondo, TX passed away on July 10, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Estevan was born on August 2, 1936 in Bishop, Texas. He was a proud retired farmer, father, and grandfather.

Estevan is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Esther G. Escamilla; and his 8 children, Estela (Marco) Mejia, Evelia “Ivy” Longoria, Erlinda (Ray) Perez, Eva Ortega, Estevan (Delia) Escamilla, Ernesto Escamilla, Lynn (Jay) Salapong, Josie (Michael La Casse) Escamilla; 37 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Anselmo Escamilla Jr., and 5 sisters: Juanita Garcia, Ofelia Waters, Frances Garcia, Herminia Ortega and Maria Montalvo..

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anselmo and Bruna Escamilla; and one brother, Rito Escamilla.

Estevan leaves a strong legacy for his future generations. He instilled in his children and grandchildren a strong work ethic, a never give up attitude, and the love of family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery in San Benito, Texas.
