Obituary of Berta C. Ochoa

Berta C. Ochoa, 93, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Port Isabel, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

Berta was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel, Texas and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Guadulapanas.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Ochoa Jr.; son, Rolando Ochoa; 3 sons in law, Jesus R. Garza, Reyes Guillen, and Juan Manuel Lopez; 2 grandchildren, Joe Fronoy Ochoa Jr. and Liza A. Garcia; 2 great grandsons, Andres Bernal and Ernest R. Grienier; 2 great granddaughters, Beatrice Ramirez and Rosemary Garza; 2 brothers, Jose and Felipe Camacho; and 3 sisters, Carmela La Blanc, Josefina Medrano, and Julia Puentes.

Left to cherish her memory are her 6 children, Nora Guillen, Jose Fronoy (Amelia) Ochoa Sr., Santiago (Sofia) Ochoa III, Maria de Jesus “M.J.” Garza, Patricia (Arturo) Bennett, and Sally Ochoa, 33 grandchildren; 106 great grandchildren; 86 great-great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Veronica Cantu.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will continue from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers: Carr Grienier, JimLeo Ochoa, Santiago Ochoa IV, Diego Garza, Javy Lopez, and Angelo Ortega.
