Obituary of Sedelia Morales Ruiz

Please share a memory of Sedelia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Sunday morning, June 24, 2018, our Mom, Sedelia (Sally Lopez) Morales Ruiz, breathed her last breath on this earth at the age of 94. She was born on Aug. 15, 1923 to her parents, Isabel and Josefa Morales, in Kaufman Texas. In the late 1940's Sedelia (Sally) Morales married Carlos Martinez Lopez and they had the following children, Consuelo (Connie) Saccar, Carlos (Charlie) Lopez, Pablo (Paul) Lopez deseased, Markos (Mark ) Lopez, Henry Lopez, Elizabeth (Betty) Debonis, Sedelia (Sally) Maday, Victor John Lopez, Santiago (Jimmy) Lopez, and Frederick (Freddy) Lopez.  Mom had 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Leo Ruiz Jr.
Our Mom had many accomplishments which are too numerous to tell. Our Mom worked hard to provide for her children, to make sure we had clothes to wear and food to eat. We remember the numerous times our Mom made a mountain of shrimp and fish, that my Father would bring from his shrimping trips, on Fridays during Lent. Mom worked in several department stores and sold Avon to provide for us, but the thing we remember the most is her going to school to get her GED and then her going to Edinburg at Pan American University to get her teaching degree at the age of 63, after raising all ten of us, I heard her say that it was my time now. Our Mom would always say, " that there wasn't anything that you couldn't do if you wanted to". After our Mother got her degree, she taught elementary school in San Benito and then in Houston for a total of 14 years and the she retired at the age of 77.
We could not began to tell you the amazing person our Mothers was, and the great lengths she would go through to help anybody and everybody, and the countless organizations she belonged to and volunteered with. To us, she was the greatest Mother that ever lived! We were totally blessed that God gave our Mother to us so long a time, 94 wonderful years. She will be so missed. Thank you Mom for all the wonderful years. We are so thankful to God that you are resting with Him in Heaven. Your journey is complete and you mission is over. We love you Mom, till we meet again.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018  from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28,  2018 at St. Benedict Catholic Church with entombment  to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito , Texas.
We want to give a special thanks to Dora Lopez, who took care of Mom for about the last 9 years of her life and especially the last year where we waited on Mom hand and foot with love and care. Thanks Dora.
