Obituary of Maria Esther Carrillo

Maria Esther Carrillo, 83, of Port Isabel, Texas, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 in Harlingen, Texas.

Maria was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who filled many hearts up with love and joy throughout her journey in life. In her early years as a grandmother, she was very involved in helping raise all her grandchildren. She loved caring and cooking for them, as well as teaching them the true meaning of love and living life.

Despite all her illnesses, she continued to live her life to the fullest while spreading happiness and love throughout our family with a gracious smile. She enjoyed shopping, playing maquinitas, Bingo, and going out and about every chance she was given.

She was a strong woman that will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. We will miss everything about her, especially her contagious personality.

She was preceded in death by one son, Rodolfo (Cuate) Ochoa; her parents, Rodolfo and Esther; three brothers: Rodolfo, Alexandro, and Francisco Carrillo; and two sisters: Celia and Alicia.

Surviving Maria are her children: Arnoldo (Yvonne Prill) Ochoa, Marco (Belinda) Ochoa, Ana (Jesse) Delgado, Esther (Julian Rodriguez) Ochoa, and Juan (Marsha) Garza; her siblings: Antonio (Evelyn) Carrillo, Rebecca Carrillo, Gloria Carrillo, and Irma Gandarilla; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel, Texas.  In accordance to her wishes, cremation will follow.
