San Benito - Josefa Gallegos, 92, passed away on March 28, 2007 at Harlingen Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1914 in Lyford, Texas. Josefa was a lifelong resident of San Benito. Josefa is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Gallegos, Sr., 3 sons, Juan Gallegos, Jr., Roberto Gallegos, Thomas Gallegos; a daughter, Maria G. Martinez; and 5 grandchildren, Antonio (Tony) Gallegos, Jessie Miranda, Pedro Garcia, Irma Garcia, and Hilda Leija. She is survived by her son, Pablo Gallegos, and 6 daughters, Guadalupe B. Garcia, Julia Garcia, Irma G. Ponce, Oralia Mena, Juanita Gallegos, and Lydia Garcia; 43 grandchildren, 114 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren, which includes her grandson, Antonio (Tony) Leija, 1st Class Sergeant stationed in Germany. Visitation will be held Saturday & Sunday, March 31 & April 1, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary held on both nights at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Saul Martinez, Michael Garcia, Ricardo Ponce, Leroy Mena, Sergio Gallegos, and Ruben Gallegos. Words of comfort my be sent to the family of Josefa Gallegos to www.thomaegarza.com.
