San Benito, TX - Fermin G. "La Loca" Benavidez, Sr., 82, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2006. He was a lifetime resident and native of El Ranchito, Texas. He was known to many of his friends as "La Loca". At one time in his life Mr. Benavidez was a Board Member of The Military Highway Water Supply Company. He was employed for 33 years with International Border Water Commission. He is preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and San Juana Benavidez, daughter, Irma Benavidez, and granddaughter, Cassandra Benavidez. Mr. Benavidez is survived by his loving wife, Maria Isabel Benavidez of El Ranchito,TX; 2 daughters Hermelinda Ramirez of San Antonio,TX; Ester Benavidez of El Ranchito, TX; 7 sons, George Benavidez, Jose Manuel (Angie) Benavidez, Fermin (Yolanda) Benavidez, Jr., all of El Ranchito, TX; Juan E. (Janie) Benavidez of Lubbock, TX; Andres Benavidez of Ft. Worth, TX; Rene (Rosa Maria) Benavidez of Corpus Christi, TX; and Romero (Diana) Benavidez of Michigan. Also surviving 1 brother, Manuel Benavidez of Houston, TX; 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held today, September 22, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at 10:00 A.M. at San Ignacio Catholic Church. Interment to follow to Garcia Cemetery in El Ranchito, TX. Pallbearers will be Juan Benavidez, Jr., Xavier Benavidez, Michael Benavidez, Leeroy Benavidez, Jerry Benavidez, and Robert Benavidez. Honorary pallbearer will be Yolanda Rios.
