Rio Hondo - Adela Ortega Escamilla,76, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Harlingen Medical Center. Ms. Escamilla was a native of Rio Hondo, she lived and worked there all her life. She was a former member of La Familia Adult Day Care of Harlingen, Texas, at one point of her life she worked as a home provider with Texas Visiting Nurses. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felipe P. Escamilla, Sr.; parents, Guadalupe and Manuela Gonzalez Ortega; and sister, Eva Serna. She is survived by her children, Enedelia Escamilla, Hector (Sandra) Escamilla both of West Virginia; Eutimio J. (Ernestina) Escamilla, Felipe (Belinda) Escamilla, Jr. both of Rio Hondo, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Anita (Florencio) Cortez of Olmito, Texas; Manuela (Gilberto) Guzman of Dallas,Texas; Juan Ortega, Gonzalo (Trinidad) Ortega, Andres (Ernestina) Ortega, Manuel (Olga) Ortega, all of Rio Hondo, Texas; Guadalupe Ortega of Blanco, Texas; Oscar (Juanita) Ortega of McFarland, CA; and Antonio (Senaida) Ortega of Salaida, CA. Visitation will be today, August 4, 2006, 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 P.M. and a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Interment will follow to San Vicente Cemetery in Las Yescas, TX.
