Socorro Amieva González, 82 of Brownsville, Texas passed away peacefully early Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. Mrs. González was a loving Wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and a true loyal friend. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Víctor M. González, Jr.; Her grandson, Chester R. "Sparky" González Jr.; Parents, Fernando and María De La Luz Valdez-Amieva; Her sister, Olga Amieva Vda. Morales; and Her brother, Héctor Amieva; She is survived by her loving high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Víctor M. González Sr. of Brownsville; Her Son, Chester R. (Janet Leal) González of Brownsville; Her two daughters, Yolanda (Alejandro) González-Fuentes of Brownsville and Patricia A. (Raúl) González-Portillo of Long Beach, California; Daughter-in-law, Elena O. González of Brownsville; eight Grandchildren, Adriana González, Gabriela González, Alejandro Fuentes Jr., Vanessa González, Daniela Fuentes, Victoria González, Víctor M. González and Alan Raúl Portillo; a brother, Othon Amieva Valdez; four Sisters, Emma Amieva Vda. de Cortez, Alicia Amieva de Sánchez, Lilia Amieva de Guerrero, Irma Amieva de Peña and her goddaughter, Irma A. Pena-Contreras. The González family will be receiving visitors beginning at 6:30 p.m. today Monday March 23, 2009 with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Bernard Road in Brownsville; Visitation will continued on Tuesday March 24, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with The Mass of Resurrection will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Father Armand Matthews officiating the services. Interment will follow to Roselawn Memorial Garden in Brownsville. Pallbearers: Alejandro Fuentes Quiñones, Alejandro Fuentes González, Raúl Portillo de la Rosa, Carlos De Ajuria Fernández, Dr. Fernando Guerrero Amieva, Marco A. González Filoteo, Dr. Ricardo Sánchez Amieva. The family of Socorro A. González wishes to extend their gratitude to: The medical staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Dr. Roberto Robles and Associates, Dr. Humberto de la Vega, Dr. Charles Zavala and Dr. Javier Jover, Dr. José Martínez O' Hara and Dr. Juan Kenigstein. Special thanks to her "guardian angels" Allan, Simona, Josefina and Griselda for the unconditional care. Our gratitude to Albert "Beto" Vega for his professionalism and respect.
