Mauricio E. Lopez, Jr. "Wicho", 80 of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on November 4, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Lopez was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on December 11, 1926 and was also raised in Rio Hondo, Texas. He was known in his profession as a Farmer, farming the areas of Harlingen, San Benito, and of course Rio Hondo, Texas. Mr. Lopez was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church. The family of Mr. Lopez would like to acknowledge a sincere appreciation to the staff of the 5th floor at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Dr. Juan Garcia and the staff of Retama Manor Nursing Home in Raymondville, Texas. Survivors include 5 children; Andres (Cynthia) Lopez, Norma (Lupe) Weaver, Eddie (Angie) Lopez, Aurora Lopez, and Jessica (Nick) Macias. Sisters; Fela Plata and Anna (Roy) Lopez, Brother; Gregorio (Amelia) Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Mauricio Lopez and Maria Aurora Cavazos Lopez, Wife; Juanita Sanchez Lopez, 2 Sons; Vito and Mauricio "Wicho" Lopez, Brother; Raul Lopez, Sr. and Sister; Estrella Montemayor. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 5, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday 11/06/07 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Interment will follow to Anaquitas Cemetery in Rio Hondo. Pallbearers will be Billy Jack Weaver, Nick Macias Roque Rodriguez, Ben Plata, Nonito Plata, Lupe Ortega, David Lopez, and Raul Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers, Phylip Lopez, Kaila Zepeda, Billy J. Weaver and Jozlyn Weaver.
