Louis M. Raytis, 76, of San Benito, passed away quietly at the San Benito Public Library on Thursday, November 30 about 5 pm. He fell asleep while reading and never woke up. He loved to read and was most happy spending time at the library.

He was born September 25,1941 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Louis and Helen Raytis. He grew up in Highland Park, Michigan and graduated from St. Benedict’s High School. He majored in History and Spanish language at Wayne State University where he finished 3.5 years of study towards his B.A. degree.

After serving his country as a medical and dental technician in the US Army for 10 years, Louis joined North American Van Lines and later worked with Morgan Drive Away Inc. Following his retirement from trucking, he enjoyed a second career as a businessman becoming the sole proprietor of “Circle R.V. Park” in San Benito, Texas.

Louis leaves behind his sister Helen Frizzo of Royal Oak, Michigan and his brother John Raytis of New Albany, Ohio and fourteen nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Murray.

No calling hours will be held. In accordance to his wishes, a caring cremation will take place and the family will observe a private memorial service.
