Obituary of Margarita Galvan Gonzalez

Please share a memory of Margarita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margarita Galvan Gonzalez, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017. At her residence in Port Isabel, Texas.

Margarita Galvan Gonzalez was a simple, beautiful lady that loved life and family. She was a homemaker that helped raise her 7 children (Lupita, Irma, Eliberto, Gualberto, Dora, Guy, and Rolando) and assisted with raising many of her grandchildren. Her children all grew up to be contributing, law abiding citizens of their respective careers and communities. Her children and grandchildren knew they could be totally silly with her, and she would laugh, or respond with "Te vaz a quedar asi!" or "Estas loco." She gave her family many reasons to laugh and cry, and she was always ready to give her love. She lived and loved to see her children and grandchildren together during Easter, Christmas, 4th of July, birthdays etc.... If life could be one long family get together, she would be eternally happy. She also loved going out with family members to clubs and bars to dance, and she liked beating everyone in Chinese checkers. Lastly, she was not quick to judge or meddle in the affairs of others. Our family thanks God for being blessed to be her children, and we thank God that she was surrounded by family when she peacefully left our world to join her loved ones in eternal rest. Family and close friends knew her as Mage, mami, or memo, and we know that she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by parents Dionicio and Gregoria Sosa Galvan as well as her brothers Santana Galvan and Juan Galvan.

Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters; Guadalupe “Lupita” Gonzalez, Irma (Porfirio) Cantu and Dora (Rolando) Garcia, her four sons; Eliberto Gonzalez, Gualberto “Wally” (Anna Maria) Gonzalez, Guy (Cindy) Gonzalez and Rolando (Maggie) Gonzalez, her three sisters; Maria Ortiz, Esther Ebanks and Maria Isabel Galvan and her one brother Doinicio Galvan as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas located at 705 S. Longoria St. Port Isabel, Texas. with accordance to her wishes cremation will follow.
