Obituary of Tomasita Rodriguez

Tomasita Rodriguez, 98, of San Benito, born January 19, 1919 in Guanajuato, Mexico went home to our Father on May 8, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Emilio Rodriguez and first husband, Alcadio Galvan; as well as sisters Filiberta and Margarita; and brother Federico Martinez.

Tomasita was blessed with a long and fruitful life, living in Lozano and San Benito for most of her life here. Tomasita was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito. Tomasita was an overcomer; her faith in our Lord gave her the strength to carry forward. Tomasita was a lover of nature; her love of palomitas and gardening will be remembered forever. Tomasita was a very loving person, always putting others above herself. She gave all for her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Tomasita attended Las Fronteras Adult Day Care Center as well as a few other centers where she had many friends and was loved by all. Today we pay her honor and send her home with our God and Father.

She is survived by her children: Maria G. (Alberto) Sanchez, Santos Galvan, Placido (Rafaela) Galvan, Miguel (Rosario) Galvan, Fernando (Dora) Galvan, Alcadio (Linda) Galvan Jr., Ruben Rodriguez, and Juan Francisco Rodriguez; one sister, Elena M. Martinez; 26 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and other relatives.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a holy rosary at 7 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Benito City Cemetery.
