Jose C. Medina will be celebrating Easter Sunday in heaven this year. At 92, his journey ended on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Martha Medina, and ten children: Eddie (Nellie) Medina, Eva Medina, Arturo Medina, Joe (Edith) Medina, Ruben Medina, Cookie Medina, Lupe (Adriana) Medina, Lillian (Jorge) Garcia, Mike Medina and Tony (Cara) Medina. He had 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Medina came to San Benito as part of the Braceros movement in 1944 during WWII. Much of his life was spent in ranching, agriculture and later in life as a landscaping business owner, operating mainly in the Harlingen Country Club area for 30 years. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. Committal service to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
