San Benito - Maria P. Ramirez, 79, of San Benito passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007 in Harlingen Texas. Mrs. Ramirez was a native of San Benito, and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, her hobbies were sewing and crafts. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jose P. Ramirez of San Benito; 7 children, Felipa (Joe) Ramirez, Jose Luis (Angelita) Ramirez, Concepcion (Mayo) Cantu, Juan G. (Norma) Ramirez, Paula Ramirez, Carolina (Joe) Lopez, all of San Benito; and Adela (Cruz) Mendez of San Antonio, TX; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; also, 1 sister, Adela (Jeronimo) Olivarez of Corpus Christi, TX. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007 from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 P.M. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to San Benito City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Samuel Ramirez, Joe G. Puente, Jeffrey Ramirez, Amado Cantu, Jr., Joey Lopez, Robert Ramirez, Mark Hinojosa, and Daniel Abrego.
