RIO HONDO, TX. — Gloria G. Alaniz 74 of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2007 early in the morning at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas after a valiant battle with Leukemia. Mrs. Alaniz was born on September 16, 1932 in San Benito, Texas to Alfredo & Guadalupe R. Garza. Her family remembers her as a loving, caring unique anchor whose standards we were molded by and whose inspiration and prayers guide us through our daily trials of life. In lieu of flowers the family of Mrs. Alaniz request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 2718, Oklahoma City, OK 73128-1718 or to a charity of your choice. She is survived by her son, Lucio Clemente Alaniz, Jr., Rio Hondo, TX; daughter, Martie Beezley. San Antonio, TX; son, Norberto & Bonnie Alaniz, Rio Hondo, TX; son, Cesario & Hilda Alaniz, Mesquite, TX; son, Gustavo Alaniz, Austin, TX; son, Eutimio & Bertha Alaniz, Rio Hondo, TX; son, Ifrain Alaniz, Austin, TX; brother, Max & Esther Garza, San Antonio, TX; sister, Dora Hernandez, San Antonio, TX and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Lucio Clemente Alaniz, Sr., friend, Ronald Wert; brothers, Fred Garza & Arturo Garza; son, Benicio Alaniz and her parents, Alfredo & Guadalupe R. Garza. Viewing with visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the North Chapel with a rosary scheduled to begin @ 7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 20007 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas with interment to follow to Mont-Meta Memorial Park. Serving, as pallbearers will be her 6 sons.
